The Pious Union Of Secular Adorers

What is the Pious Union?

The "Pious Union" of Secular Adorers is an association which, according to numbers 301 and 303 of the new Canon Law, belongs to the group of private associations classified as the so-called "third orders" or "pious unions." For its spirit and animation, it depends on the Order of the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, which exists all over the world.

Purpose of the Pious Union:

  • To pray for the Holy Church, for the Pope and his intentions, and for the bishops and priests;
  • To unite all the faithful in the great work of perpetual adoration and the exposition of Jesus in the Sacrament of His Love;
  • To make amends for the innumerable offenses that Jesus receives in the august Sacrament from so many ungrateful Christians who offend Him by profaning the churches and receiving Him sacrilegiously;
  • To promote worship of, gratitude towards, and compensation (for the sins of humanity) for the Divine Eucharist;
  • To promote the spiritual well-being of oneself and one’s neighbor;
  • To combat atheism and religious indifference with constant prayers, religious instruction, reading of the Holy Scripture, and a life full of holiness, always seeking the aide of the Most Holy Virgin.

Spiritual Benefits

The Pious Union member partake of all the spiritual benefits of the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration:

  • Masses, the Divine Office, prayers, sacrifices, offerings, penitence, etc. They enjoy this privilege even after their death.
  • The adoration of the Eucharist also shares the very important value of indulgences (partial or plenary):

    'An indulgence is a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain prescribed conditions through the actions of the Church which, as the minister of redemption, dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of satisfactions of Christ and the Saints.' (Canon No. 992).
